  1. Hey just wanted to give you a brief heads
up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the
    same outcome.

  2. Hi, thanks for your blog. I enjoy it and use it frequently for planning my hikes. I’d like to ask you more about backcountry hiking. I’m not experienced in going off well marked trails. Could you provide some advice regarding what equipment, maps, and preparation is necessary? I’m eyeing Cupola peak and the middle sister as potentials for the future.

  3. Cupola Peak and the Middle Sister both get people hiking up them every year and there are semi-established routes/trails. My recommendation would be to go with someone who has been there before, if at all possible for your first try. Equipment-wise, it depends a bit on what you are comfortable with for back country hiking, but neither of the hikes needs to involve any technical (rope/climbing) work.

  4. Matt,
Glad to see you are adding some updates to the site. Love looking at the scenery in and around Sitka. We miss Alaska and hope you are enjoying your home (was being finished when we left!)

  5. Thanks Suzi – I’m happy to share, and am glad you’re enjoying what’s here. I have some ideas for further improvements, but it seems like there are so many other things to do, I’m not sure when I might get to them! (sorry it took so long to approve your comment and reply – it got buried in a pile of spam comments that this site seems to attract).

  6. Thanks Josh – I see there’s a wordpress plugin for it also, so that could be useful. It’s on my (long) list of things to do to get the trail pages updated with GPS tracks. I haven’t quite decided whether to keep using the wordpress setup, or create a wiki-based setup for the pages. Given some of the power of the latter (for searching/organizing), I’m inclined towards it. There are some powerful mapping extensions there that I would be able to use as well. Thanks!
